A brilliant but down-on-his-luck English hat designer Granville Davies travels from London to the city of Sanya on Hainan Island , the “Hawaii of China”,
to compete in the prestigious International Festival Of The Hat. But on arrival in China he learns that his main competition for first prize at the festival is his former girlfriend (and still the love of his life).

John Huddles wrote and directed “The Philosophers” (2014), released in the U.S. as “After The Dark.” John is a graduate of the American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles, as well as Johns Hopkins University’s Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in Washington D.C. and Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island --- where he was editor-in-chief of the school’s student magazine and was named one of Brown’s first ever Undergraduate Writing Fellows.
