DÉSIRÉE NOSBUSCH

Désirée Nosbusch is co-founder of Deal Productions.

 

Her illustrious career spans over three decades, marked by international acclaim as an actress and television luminary. Remarkably, she commenced her journey at a mere twelve years old, captivating audiences as the host of a youth show on Radio Luxembourg. By fourteen, she soared to prominence as the youngest television presenter in Europe. Her pinnacle moment arrived in 1984 when she charmed audiences worldwide as the host of the Eurovision Song Contest in Luxembourg, captivating over 500 million viewers.

 

In 1986, Désirée was part of the Taviani Brothers’ feature film Good Morning Babylon, co-starring Greta Scacchi and Joaquim de Almeida, which opened at the Cannes Film Festival in 1987. 

 

She has since appeared in over 60 movies internationally and numerous stage plays, such as The Taming of the Shrew at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen, The Merci Seat by playwright Neil LaBute at the Théatre National du Luxembourg. She was highly acclaimed in the production of Poison by Lot Vekemans, which she performed at the Kasemattentheater and Théâtre des Capucins in Luxembourg. In 2018 she premiered with the monologue Your Very Own Double Crisis Club by Sivan Ben Yishai at the Kasemattentheater. 

 

Earning accolades for her stellar performances, Désireé was awarded the prestigious Grimme Award for Best Actress, as well as winning the Best Supporting Actress award from the German Television Academy, both for her portrayal of Christelle LeBlanc in the critically acclaimed series Bad Banks. 

 

She played the lead role in the sci-fi series Spides, as well as the prestigious Cannes Series 2021 nominated Sisi and Glauben-The Allegation, the latter of which secured the coveted Best Series award. Her most recent ventures include leading roles in the TV Programs Der Irland Krimi for ZDF and Conti for ARD. Finally, she has an important role in latest TV Series The Second Attack, directed by Barbara Eder for ARD.

 

Désirée's prowess extends beyond acting, holding a Master’s Degree in directing and film production from UCLA in Los Angeles. Her directorial finesse shines through in her short film Ice Cream Sundae, starring Hollywood legend Tippi Hedren, which garnered top honours at esteemed festivals such as the World Festival Houston and the Fargo Film Festival. Her debut feature-documentary Succès Fox further solidified her directorial talent, premiering at prestigious festivals including the Luxembourg City Film Festival and the Max Ophüls Preis in Saarbrücken.

 

Notably, Désirée recently ventured into feature film direction with Poison, a captivating drama starring acclaimed actors Tim Roth (Bergman Island, The Hateful Eight, Sundown, Rob Roy - for which Tim was Oscar nominated - and the upcoming She-Hulk Marvel series) and Trine Dyrholm (Queen of Hearts, The Commune, Love is All You Need). Produced by Deal Productions, Phanta Film and Studio Hamburg UK, Poison promises to captivate audiences with its gripping narrative, adapted from Lot Vekemens' internationally renowned play which was translated into more than 15 languages.

 

In partnership with Alexandra Hoesdorff at Deal Productions, Désirée spearheads the production of a diverse range of international feature films, documentaries and TV series, cementing her status as a trailblazer in the entertainment industry.
